Presentation of the Competition
The French Division 1 Championship is organised by the National Handball League (LNH)
# The Concept
The LNH Division 1 contains 14 clubs. Each team plays the other 13 teams home and away. The league table ranks the clubs according to the following points system :
Victory = 2 points
Draw = 1 point
Defeat = 0 point
# The Winner
At the end of the season, after playing 26 matches, the team with the highest number of points becomes the French champions.
# Promotion and Relegation
The teams finishing in the bottom two places in the First Division are relegated to the French Second Division for the following season, whereas the top two teams in the second Division are promoted to the First Division.
